Cub Scouts

Congratulations to the 67 Cub Scouts who raced their hand-built cars in Pack 556's Annual Pinewood Derby 2011! William Hoyt came in first place for the pack championship, followed by Carlton Sandrell, Derek Hayduk, Matthew Miller and Jack McKennon. Best Design went to Raleigh Berggren (for the third year in a row) for his Viking-ship car. Those six boys will have the opportunity to race in the James E. West District Pinewood Derby in May. Other trophy winners included Max Byram, Ben Collier, Garrison Walker, Sam Dark, Carson Pearman, Duke Chenault and Christian Howell. Our Scouts not only showed a great deal of creativity and persistence with their cars, they showed great sportsmanship to one another and hospitality to Mr. Vaughn Hawkins, our master of ceremonies.

Scouts are organized at the beginning of each school year. Look for sign up information in your child's Friday folder at that time. We have a terrific year with camping, hiking and other activities planned. We also welcome new adult volunteers to the pack.
