Please mark your calendar, save the date and join me on Monday night, January 30 at PPE PTO’s Town Hall Meeting to discuss important topics which will impact your child’s future at Percy Priest. Your attendance and input are vital to the development of our three year
Strategic Plan. The meeting will begin at 6:30 in the Tiger Cafe. I hope to see you there.
I would like to commend our terrific tigers and teachers on the way they handled Tuesday’s unexpected tornado “drill” procedures. Although we practice for situations like the one on Tuesday, we must always be prepared for the unexpected... even when the cafe’ is full of first grade students. Please ask your PPE tiger to demonstrate the “duck and cover” position.
Now that our library is open for checkout, your child will bring home books they have selected. Reading to your child is the best way to help him/her build a foundation for reading. Keeping in touch with your child’s teacher is one of the best ways to encourage reading success. Please contact your child’s teacher if you need to address topics such as your child’s reading level, appropriate expectations and book selections. The Read-a-thon is just around the corner. Let’s get ready to read, read, read!
Your partner in education,
Melinda Williams

Keep an eye out for those Box Tops in your pantry, at the office on Avery office supplies, and on paper goods like diapers, tissues, and paper towels. Our next Box Tops contest and collection date will be here soon so send in yours today! It’s free money for our school.
January Parent Presentation
Jim Williams will be speaking on Thursday, January 26, at 7:00 pm in the JT Moore auditorium. He is the author of Parenting on Point, and the video series Proactive Parenting. The “Call Me Jim” assembly in early November was met with genuine enthusiasm and generated a lot sharing and caring among students. You don’t want to miss his parent presentation!
