Winter Break
Dear PPE Families,

I want to share some exciting news with you. PPE was recently identified as a Reward School in the state of Tennessee!

Reward schools are 10% of all ES in the state, comprised of the 5% highest-performing schools in the
State and/or 5% highest-progress schools in the State.

Since our reward is based on performance on the last two years of academic achievement on TCAP, we are in the top 5% of highest-performing schools in the state!  I would like to thank our wonderful teachers, students and parents for making this possible.

PPE recently received some other exciting news from TPAC and Disney. We have been selected to take part
in Disney's “Musicals in Schools” program. Percy Priest ES was one of five MNPS schools selected from the list of applications submitted in October. Disney has already developed its "Musicals in Schools" program in five New York City schools. Nashville, specifically the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, was chosen out of dozens of applicant cities. More information will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.

I enjoyed seeing so many of you at our holiday luncheon on Wednesday. I want to thank you for your patience as we provided lunch for an additional 200 adults. Your children enjoy this special day and sharing it with their families. We are already discussing how we can make improvements for next year.

Your partner in education,

Mrs. Melinda Williams

Say “Thanks” to PPE Support Staff
If you’d like an opportunity to say a special “thanks” to the PPE office, cafe and custodial staff by participating in a school-wide gift, please send your contribution to Melinda Williams no later than Dec. 12.

Look for Tiger Store Dec 12!
Did you miss our Cyber Sale? Don't worry, Tiger Store will be open live Dec 12-16 from 7:40 to 8:30am for all Grab-n-Go items!  We are cleaning out our closet and will have a different item on sale or a different discount every day.

Last Chance for Lost and Found
The PPE lost and found bin is overflowing with more than 80 items! Please come claim your lost gear before Dec. 15. All unclaimed non SSA items will be donated to the MNPS homeless students’ office before the Winter break. The bin is located on the stage. Check it out!

Don’t Be Stranded on Study Island
Make sure your child has access to their Study Island password and login. If they have misplaced theirs, please contact your child’s teacher. We want our PPE tigers to be familiar with Study Island when they return from winter break. Study Island can be accessed from any computer with internet. Parents are encouraged to visit and explore the site with their children.  For assistance, please click here.

Your child’s art + Artsonia = GREAT GIFT!
Having a hard time figuring out what to give the grandparents this year?  Why not check out your child’s art on Artsonia.com and create a special gift using your child’s artwork!  Go to  www.artsonia.com and find your child’s art work on display. Then use the simple tools to create a gift incorporating your child’s art!  Even better, 15% of each purchase goes back to the PPE art program to help fuel your kid’s passion for art with special events and programs. It’s a win/win!  Contact Tina Atkinson for more details.

Looking for a holiday gift for family and friends?
Why not buy a Kroger gift card.  Buy a card from PPE for $5 (with $5 loaded on card). Then take card to Kroger and load any amount you want onto card!  PPE receives 4% of any amount loaded onto the cards!  And family members and friends can reload the card with funds and continue to support PPE.  What a great way to remember friends and family and support PPE!  Kroger Cards - the gift that keeps on giving!
