THIS WEEK AT PPE

• WEDNESDAY, 9/15: GO CASUAL FOR THE KIDS DAY
Students will be allowed to wear jeans and a standard attire shirt that day in exchange for a voluntary small donation in support of the Children's Miracle Network at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.

• “HEADS UP!”
Several cases of head lice have been found in PPE since the beginning of the school year. Please take the time check your child’s head thoroughly using a fine tooth comb!

Metro has a strict policy regarding lice: If a student is positive for live head lice, the student is to be sent home with information for the parents regarding treatment and control measures. A student may return to school when the parent or guardian obtains a note from his or her private health provider or the Metropolitan Health Department stating that the student has been treated and is free of lice (lice-free and not nit-free). An excused absence for up to three (3) days per infestation will be granted. Thanks for your cooperation. It is recommended that parents check their child's hair for nits and lice weekly. For more information, visit this article link from ABC News on Head Lice.

• PTO VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
The PTO has lots of opportunities to help on a school-wide basis. Volunteers are needed for everything from gardening, to fundraising, to communications and so much more. Whatever your talent, we have a place for you! This is a great way to get to know other PPE families and help the school. Please take two (really only 2!) minutes and fill out this volunteer survey.

• CPA NEEDED FOR PTO POSITION IMMEDIATELY
We have an immediate need for a CPA to help chair our PTO audit committee. Please contact Liz Chilton.

THE PPE PTO INVEST FUNDRAISER UPDATE
We have had 441 pledge cards returned as of this week! Keep ‘em coming in, PPE parents; even if you can’t make a donation at this time, please return the pledge card. They count toward class totals which equal possible prizes and parties for the kids! Questions? Please contact: David Wall, 804-9255 or Roger Hebert, 289-1315.

• PULL TABS FOR RONALD McDONALD HOUSE, NOW THROUGH NOVEMBER 12
Our school will be collecting pull tabs (from any type of can) to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. Please collect the pull tabs in plastic bags starting now and send to your child's teacher by November 12th. The school with the highest weight of tabs per student will receive a lunch for every student from our local McDonald’s! Each participating student will receive a coupon good for a free ice cream cone. A little effort from each of us can help critically ill children a lot. For more information contact Marilyn Jordan.
