Holiday Service Projects
Percy Priest has a strong tradition of service and community work throughout the year. Each holiday season that tradition grows into a nice long list of projects by class, by grade, by extracurricular or club.
Below is the current list of Holiday Service Projects so you can see how generous our Tigers are. Look for updates in 2011.
Percy Priest Celebrates 25 Years of Giving with THE SALVATION ARMY CHILDREN’S STOCKING PROJECT, NOVEMBER 22, 2010 – DECEMBER 8, 2010.
In the spirit of the giving season, the PPE'S first grade class is participating in a great December service project--- the Pajama Program. The Pajama Program is a nonprofit organization that provides pajamas and books to children who live in group homes, shelters, foster care and orphanages. ( http://www.pajamaprogram.org ) Their belief is that no child should have to go to bed in their street clothes and without a bedtime story.
4th Grade will be pushing participation in the Salvaion Army School-wide Stocking Stuffer project. Please remember to bring your items by December 8th.
Dr. Bourlakas's 2nd Grade Class service project this year is going to help families at Safe Haven Family Shelter. A Safe Haven representative will read the book, A Shelter in Our Car , by Monica Gunning to our class on Monday, December 6th. She will talk to the students about the SHFS and answer any questions they may have.
Safe Haven is the only shelter program of its kind in Middle Tennessee that serves homeless families as an entire unit. LIST of items to bring:
-art supplies
-school supplies
-board games
-winter accessories(hats,mittens,scarves)
The Rest of 2nd Grade will be making gift bags for shut-ins. Please bring the following: Hard candies, small boxes of chocolate, small/travel size hand lotions, small travel size hand cleansers or sanitizers, warm socks, small/travel size tissues.
