New Cafe Pin System explained. New Lunch Coupons. Lunch links posted through March 2010.
CAFE CODE SYSTEM
Tiger Café is now computerized with a pin code system. ANY student buying ANYTHING must know his or her pin code. A pin will be asigned upon enrolment and will remain as the child's lunch pin as long as they attend metro schools. Students MUST have money in their account to buy breakfast, lunch, milk, ice cream or other a la carte items. No credits can be extended. Students should send their money in on MONDAY MORNING in Friday folder to ensure it can be entered before lunch starts.
Parents also need to know that money must be designated for breakfast, lunch, or for a cash account which covers all items. If you send money in for lunch tickets and your child only needs milk one day, they cannot access that money if it is in the lunch account only. By designating money in the lunch account only you can control what your children can buy. Putting it all in ala carte means they can buy 10 ice cream if they want to. So the designation system makes sense if you want to make sure your child buys an entire lunch or breakfast. It is suggested that if you pack your lunch you should designate all money for the cash account because students can supplement lunches from home with ala carte items such as milk or ice cream or chips.
Low balance letters will be sent home each Friday to notify you if your child needs more money for their account. Also, it may be helpful to work with your child on their pin code. If they only purchase items occasionally like milk and ice cream, you may want to write their number inside their lunch box. Using the new Lunch Coupon below (please download) should avoid confusion when turning in money. You may write one check for more than one child, but you will need to turn in a coupon for each of your children to designate money for each of their accounts. Questions? Call PPE 298-8416. Many thanks to the teachers and parents for all their hard work to be sure children were ready for this change!
Each day a nutritionally balanced meal is served for lunch. A ticket may be purchased with cash or check. Submit payment in a well-marked envelope with your child's name and teacher's name and return it in your child's Friday folder on Monday. Please submit a ticket for each child and indicate on your lunch ticket what your payment covers. Feel free to pay ahead. Checks for the exact amount should be made out to: Percy Priest Elementary School Cafeteria. Lunch tickets are kept by the cafeteria personnel. And as always, cash can be used at any time in the lunch line for your child to buy lunch.

Plain milk and a variety of flavored milks are served every day. Milk is included in the $2.00 price of lunch. If your child would like to buy milk to go with his or her lunch from home, the cost is 50 cents. Ice cream may be purchased on Friday for 50 cents.
If your child qualifies for free or reduced lunch, please see the MNPS link below. Information and assistants applications will be sent home with every child during the first weeks of school.
