A Message from Your Principal

Dear PPE Families,

It has been a wonderful week at PPE spotlighting our fabulous 4th grade students and teachers.
Our scholars performed a variety of musical selections for the PPE student body during an assembly on Wednesday morning and again at  ‘An Evening with the Arts’ on Thursday night.  Each 4th grade student also selected a variety of their artwork to be on display.  We have some very talented 4th graders who will be leaving us in less than a week as they venture on to middle school.

It is a bittersweet time at PPE as we say “Happy Retirement” to Ms. Vonda Dunn.  Ms. Dunn has dedicated 45 years of her life to educating children – many of those here at Percy Priest.  Ms. Chequita Winters has decided to follow her dreams and will enroll in graduate school at Lipscomb University to pursue a degree in Film and Production.  Ms. Winters has been a member of the PPE family for 14 years.  We will miss both of these talented educators very much!

The following educators have elected to transfer to PPE from another school within our district:

  • Liz Strawn comes to us from Smith Springs ES and will teach 2nd grade.
  • Laurel Marchesoni (Cane Ridge ES) will teach 3rd grade while Mrs. Duke is on maternity leave for the 2017-18 school year.
  • Grace Davis chose to transfer from AZ Kelley to teach 4th grade.

Next Thursday, May 25th, is a half-day for students.  Dismissal will be at 11:30 a.m.  Report cards will be issued on Thursday and your child will receive a lot of information with his/her report card, including a supply list and summer reading lists for certain grades.

While you are visiting PPE next week, please check out the items in Lost and Found.  Clothing and items not claimed next week will be donated to Uni-cycle or Goodwill.  Thank you.

Mrs. Melinda Williams
