PPE Wins Bell Award
Congratulations to the Percy Priest Elementary PTO for receiving the Bell Award from the Nashville Public Education Foundation for outstanding work on the Percy Priest library expansion project!
Last Plea for Yearbook Photos
The yearbook committee is almost done with the 2011-12 yearbook and we REALLY need your help! We need photos of Cub Scouts, Brownies, Girls on the Run, Destination Imagination, Chess Club, Dance Club, Guitar & Violin Club, Knitting Club, Technology Club, Marathon Runners Club, and various school-based sports teams such as baseball, basketball, football, etc. Photos of school-wide events, such as the family picnic and the fall family event, are also needed. Please submit your digital photos as soon as possible to Angie Howard or Colleen Neel. Photos may be emailed or copied to a CD and turned in to the school office. Please note that photos must be high resolution so we can’t use cell phone photos.
It Wouldn’t Happen Without You!
Many thanks to all the parents and faculty who came to the PTO Town Hall meeting on Monday night. We shared ideas that will begin to shape our 2012-2015 strategic plan. Thanks to Terri McConnell, Betsy Wright and their hospitality team for providing us with supper. We also are grateful for Policy/Planning and PTO Exec board members who helped direct traffic and dialogue. We are honored to be part of the process with all of you.
-Leslie Hudson and Brandi Kellett
A big thanks to Ginger Sheppard for coordinating the Used Book Sale this week. The donors, shoppers, and workers really rocked it this year. There was an impressive display of books at all reading levels and the kids always love shopping, buying and reading!
Also our school’s Fall Bake Sale to benefit several area non profits enabled us to provide:
Through the generosity of our bakers and buyers we raised $1200!
Finally, grandparents are wonderful and we love Don Walker, Garrison Walker’s grandfather. Please thank him and his friend, Susan Batson, who donated a couple of days to paint words on the gym walls!
Just 20 Days ‘til Box Tops
Spring Box Tops madness is upon us! Please collect and send them to school no later than Feb 23!
Vacations, Botox, and Autographed Guitars
Surely you might have some good gear just lying around that you could donate to the upcoming Auction? Original art, memberships, services, condo time somewhere fun? Anything that families use and love would be great. Seriously, if you don’t donate it, how can we sell it? Contact Cindy Walker.
Construction Zone: Building Brains
There's something in the air at Percy Priest Elementary these days, and it's not spring fever. Our Tigers are wild with anticipation about who will win this year's Read-A-Thon. There are prizes for both individual and classroom top readers. It starts this Friday, February 3 with a Sprit Wear Day. The three-week contest encourages our children to read read read and includes fun dress up days and events! What better way to build a brain than with a good book? Besides their brains bursting with knowledge, we will also raise money for PPE. The kids are asked to get sponsored for each book they read or have read to them. Look for your child's book logs to come home this week in their Friday folder. Questions? contact Ann Page or Kristin Selph.
Geology with the Mayor
This Sat. Feb 4 meet up with Mayor Karl Dean for a Geology Walk in Warner Parks. Here is all the info!
