PPE Holiday Service Projects
PPE Holiday 09 Service Project Listings
The students and families at Percy Priest Elementary have a long tradition of classroom, school-wide and extra curricular group service projects to help the needy. This year is no exception. We want to spotlight this generosity.
Some classes have replaced class holiday parties with service project parties. This year Dr. Bourlakas's 1st grade class is providing holiday party food, drinks, and goodie bags for another 1st grade class at Fall Hamilton Elementary in the Wedgewood Community. Ms. V. Webb and Ms. Spry's First Grade classes are doing a sock drive for the homeless.
The following is a list of some of this year's projects: 1st grade - Individual class projects such as Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Webb's class are donating scarves and mittens to the Nashville Rescue Mission.
2nd grade - Christmas bags for the Rescue Mission. Ms. Brumleve's class is collecting items to be wrapped for Nashville General Hospital that will include items for babies and adults.
3rd grade - Individual class projects such as Snowman pots filled with peppermints for the Ronald McDonald House. Ms. High's class is collecting food for the Humane Society of Nashville.
School-wide, we will be collecting small toys and toiletries to stuff stockings for the Salvation Army. This has been an annual event for PPE for 23 years. The PPE Brownie Troops will fill the stockings with the donations. The PPE Girls on the Run is collecting items for Prevent Child Abuse TN. Additionally, "EnPlay," our Third Grade Boy's Winter Basketball Team, will make care packages for the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
Giving during the holiday is as important as receiving. Percy Priest Elementary gets an "A" on that lesson!
If you are aware of any projects we missed, please notify Angie Howard so she can include it in the final press release to the media.
