Technology

Technology at Percy Priest is a priority. Children are exposed to technology in their daily lives and it is critical today to include technology as a learning tool and to expose children to technology in a learning environment. The Percy Priest PTO is committed to funding technology in cooperation with MNPS and their strategy to "select and use technology in developmentally appropriate ways to promote active learning, improve student engagement, and individualize instruction."
The faculty at Percy Priest integrates technology into the elementary school curriculum each day through the use of our Computer On Wheels (COW), classroom & library computer desk tops and mounted projection cameras using ELMO and click-respond technology.
Our Computer on wheels was generously funded by the John Prine Family and the PPE PTO in 2006 allowing PPE to turn any classroom into a computer lab with approximately 20 laptops and wireless technology. And the PTO continues to maintain the COW along with maintenance cooperation from MNPS. We rely heavily on parent volunteers to bring the cow experience into each child's classroom. Look for training sessions to be announced at the beginning of each school year.
ELMO cameras are also very popular with our faculty as an instructional tool. Read about ELMO technology by visiting the ELMO website. We are not talking about ELMO and Sesame Street.
