With 1 in 6 Tennesseans at Risk for Hunger, Percy Priest Elementary is hosting a food drive to serve those who are in need.
The common misconception is that problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain neighborhoods or the homeless population. The reality is that in Middle Tennessee alone, more than 417,000 people struggle with hunger. In addition, 1 in 5 children suffer from inadequate food source, and many people who face problems associated with hunger are individuals living in households with at least one employed adult.
We encourage you to donate (non-perishable) food items to help those in need.
Most-needed food items:
- Canned fruit, vegetables, soup and stews
- Canned tuna or chicken
- Peanut butter
Our food drive will be Monday, October 1st- Thursday, October 11th. The class from each grade level with the most food collected will earn a non-SSA day. The class with the overall largest amount collected will also win a pizza party.
Do your part today! Together we will create a hunger free Tennessee!
