3rd Grade News: 1/22

Hello families!
We hope that you are well.  As many of you are already aware, MNPS is using the following tool to track Covid progress in Nashville.  We need to see this number below 7 in order to return to in-person school.  Check it out!  The numbers update daily.
Here is what we’ll be up to next week, January 25th-29th.
  • In ELA we are going to begin a mini-unit on the Civil Rights movement, famous Black Americans and stories throughout the years.  We will end our week reading and writing about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr.  Phonics this week will be words that all third graders should know how to spell.  In grammar we’ll be working on the difference between to, two, and too, as well as you’re and your.
  • In Math we’ll continue our study of fractions.  This week we’ll talk more about unit fractions, build on our knowledge of fractions, and begin making fractions on a number line.
  • In Science we’ll talk about animals and seasonal adaptions (think hibernation).
  • Social Studies will be completed asynchronously.  Students will be learning about European conflicts with Native Americans and the Trail of Tears.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know!
