3rd Grade News: 1/29

Hello families!

We hope that you are doing well. We’ve had a great week learning virtually. The MNPS Covid tracker is looking promising! The number was down to 7.3 on Thursday! 🙂

Thank you for encouraging your children to use the Lexia and iReady programs. These are wonderful tools to “fill in the gaps” while we are not learning in person.

We also want to encourage students to continue to read independently each day! Third graders should be reading 20-30 minutes each day. Ask your teacher if you need book suggestions.

Here is what we’ll be up to next week.
  • In ELA we will continue our study of Civil Rights. The students will read a play about Ruby Bridges. Students will work on inferencing skills as well. We will also read Goin’ Someplace Special. This is a wonderful story if you haven’t read it yet! In grammar we will work on comma rules.
  • In Math we’ll be working on fraction on a number line. This is a tricky concept that will be even trickier to learn virtually. The kids can do it!
  • In Social Studies we’ll be learning synchronously. We will study Early Explorers.
Science will asynchronous this week. Students will be wrapping up their learning of adaptations and taking a test.
As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
