Kindergarten News: 5/7

​Dear Parents,
Thank you for the outpouring of love and appreciation this past week for Teacher Appreciation Week! We are humbled by your kindness and generosity. It is a blessing to work with your children each day!
The next two weeks are going to fly by! To stay “in the know,” be sure to check the Percy Priest website, listen to Dr. Young’s Saturday call and view your teacher’s weekly update for details on all upcoming events.
This past week in guidance, the kiddos played a game to review Kelso’s choices. Given “real-life” scenarios, children were asked to use problem-solving strategies to resolve minor conflicts. We encourage students to use these choices to solve small problems.

Here’s what is coming up in kindergarten…

​Ocean Animals
~Identify living and nonliving things
~Participate is shared research
~Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose informative/explanatory texts
~Read grade level texts with purpose and understanding (Take-home readers)
~Identify “vowel teams” in spoken words
~Make and use fact families/related facts
~Fluently add and subtract (review)

  • May 11th- PTO Meeting, 6:30-8:00
  • May 20th- K Field Day, 12:30-2:45 (more information to come)
  • May 25th- Last day of school, 11:30 dismissal (half-day)
