Kindergarten News: 8/27

Hi Parents,

This past week our kindergarten students had library with Ms. Stuart and guidance with Mrs. Twitchel! In library, kiddos were able to check out their very first library book! Tigers show responsibility by taking care of their book and keeping up with it. In guidance, Mrs. Twitchel shared two mindfulness strategies with the children; Mindful breathing (belly breathing) and Mindful Listening. She teaches how these strategies can be used whenever children have “big” feelings like anger, fear or sadness. Ask your child to demonstrate these mindfulness strategies for you!

Children are beginning to navigate the entire building and get accustomed to the rules and behavior expectations in the classroom, café, hallway, and on the playground. ROAR Tickets (Respect, Ownership, Acceptance, Responsibility) are given to encourage and reinforce positive behavior choices.

PPE Technology Notes

Thank you so much for sending in laptops, cords, and hotspots over the past few weeks as we sync our inventory and make sure every student has a laptop!

New This Year: K, 1st, and 2nd grade students will not bring laptops home with them. The teachers have each been given a laptop cart where they can keep students laptops charged and ready to go. 3rd and 4th grade students will be bringing their laptops back and forth at their teacher’s discretion. You do not need to have a MNPS laptop to log into Lexia and iReady at home. They can be accessed on any web browser by going to Clever here.

Please send in any additional laptop charging cords, hotspots (unless needed by your family), laptops, and laptop cases as soon as possible. Thank you!
