Kindergarten News: 11/6

Introducing… Mr. Tom Turkey! Mr. Turkey is a little shy around the Thanksgiving holiday and is looking for a good disguise! Turkey project details are in your child’s Friday folder (yellow note). Please read over all the information and make sure a disguised Tom Turkey is returned to school by Thursday, November 12th!

Thank you for working with your children on their Heart Words. These words should be read “by heart.” We are seeing good progress and appreciate your support.

Here’s what is happening in kindergarten next week….

~Sequencing story events
~Identify the beginning, middle and end of stories
~Identify beginning and ending sounds
~Compare story events from long ago vs. today
~Identify character(s) and setting
~Retell events in a story, including key details
~With prompting and support, participate in shared writing activities
~Read and write sight words (Heart Word Book)
~Read and write short /i/ CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant)

~Identify the next number in a counting sequence
~Count on from a given number
~Count and match numbers and quantities to 12
~Read, write, count, and represent larger numbers to 20

~Healthy Habits: Mask, Washing Hands, Social-Distancing

~Identify and discuss holidays and analyze why we celebrate them (Veteran’s Day)
~Use correct words and phrases related to chronology and time, including: Now/ long ago, past, present, future
~Social Emotional Learning: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social-Awareness, Relationship Skills, Responsible Decision Making
