Ask your 2nd Grader:
- What are some of the challenges that the pioneers faced on their journey to the Oregon Territory? (walking behind the wagon, steep mountains, crossing rivers)
- What do the phrases “lighten their load” and “setting watch” mean?
- What did the pioneers do when it was too windy to start a fire? (eat cold meals)
- What is the antonym of sour, day, front? (sweet, night, back)
- What is the synonym for large, dirty, lawn? (enormous, filthy, yard)
- What is the difference between a common noun and a proper noun? (Proper nouns must be capitalized.)
- What is a proper noun for street, principal, holiday? (Otter Creek Rd, Dr. Young, Thanksgiving)
- Which number is greater than. . . 723 or 847?
- How did you know 847 was greater than 723? (There are more hundreds.)
- If you have 23 tens, how many hundreds could you make? (2)
- Is this true or false? 900 is greater than 90 tens. (false – They are equal.)
