2nd Grade News – November 21st, 2025

Important Dates: 

  • November 24 – 28: Thanksgiving holiday, students do not report
  • December 2nd: – Stockpile Day (students do not report)

  • December 11th: – 1st Grade Music Performance
  • December 18th: Club Ensemble Performances
  • December 19th: – 1/2 Day for Students, Winter Break begins
  • December 22 – January 2nd: Winter Break

Ask your 2nd Grader:

  • What are some of the challenges that the pioneers faced on their journey to the Oregon Territory?  (walking behind the wagon, steep mountains, crossing rivers)
  • What do the phrases “lighten their load” and “setting watch” mean?
  • What did the pioneers do when it was too windy to start a fire?  (eat cold meals)
  • What is the antonym of sour, day, front?  (sweet, night, back)
  • What is the synonym for large, dirty, lawn?  (enormous, filthy, yard)
  • What is the difference between a common noun and a proper noun?  (Proper nouns must be capitalized.)
  • What is a proper noun for street, principal, holiday? (Otter Creek Rd, Dr. Young, Thanksgiving)
  • Which number is greater than. . .  723   or  847?
  • How did you know 847 was greater than 723?  (There are more hundreds.)
  • If you have 23 tens, how many hundreds could you make?  (2)
  • Is this true or false?  900 is greater than 90 tens.  (false – They are equal.)
