2nd Grade News – December 12th, 2025

Ask your 2nd Grader:

  • What is the life lesson we can learn from The Legend of the Bluebonnet?
  • What is a drought, famine, and a sacrifice?
  • What Indian tribe is in The Legend of the Bluebonnet? (Comanche)
  • If a word ends with a ‘y’, how do you make it plural?  (If there is a consonant in front of the ‘y’, change the ‘y’ to ‘i’ and add ‘es’ (baby/babies).  If there is a vowel in front of the ‘y’, just add an ‘s’. (toy/toys)
  • What are some strategies you can use to solve 2 digit  addition and subtraction problems?  (pictorial model, number line, using place value, estimation)
  • How would you solve 34 + 55?  How would you solve 68 – 32 =?
  • When you hear the question “How many more than?” in a word problem, what are you supposed to do?  (subtract)
