Math:
Division Unit
In this scope, students will explore multiplication and division strategies. Students will participate in various activities and explorations through which they will learn how to deepen their understanding of multiplication properties, deepen their understanding about the relationships between multiplication and division, and gain fluency in multiplying and dividing within 100.
ELA: Essential Question: How do people learn about space?
Focusing Question: How did the astronauts of Apollo 11 learn about space?
Content Framing Question: What is the essential meaning of Moonshot?
Students will notice the use of repetition as a means of conveying a central message about the events of the Apollo 11 mission. Students will collect evidence in preparation for writing an opinion essay. Students will also complete a New-Read Assessment to demonstrate their ability to identify the main idea of an informational text, to determine the meaning of words in context, to identify an author’s point of view, and to understand cause-and-effect relationships in a text.
