In this scope, students will explore multiplication and division strategies. Students will participate in various activities and explorations through which they will learn how to deepen their understanding of multiplication properties, deepen their understanding about the relationships between multiplication and division, and gain fluency in multiplying and dividing within 100.

Students will gain background knowledge information about America’s race to send astronauts to the moon and examine in detail how Robert Burleigh presents the events of the Apollo 11 mission in One Giant Leap. Students will also discuss how nonliteral language adds meaning and beauty to the text.
