In this new unit, students explore how to partition a number line into equal parts and show that each part is of equal length; how to represent each equal partition of the space between two whole numbers as a unit fraction; how to partition sections between whole numbers to show fractional values between them; and how to locate and label fractional parts on a number line based on the distance from zero to the endpoint.

Students will use their writing planner to begin writing an essay. Students use the craft elements they studied, such as engaging the reader with a hook, grouping related information together, and using linking words and phrases.
