SCHOOL UPDATES

KIDS HEART CHALLENGE

PPE is filled with LIFESAVERS!
We have made it to our 50% registration goal and have earned a HAT DAY!
Hat Day will be this coming Monday, December 15th. Students may wear a hat of their choosing, the more unique the better! Bring it on!
TODAY is the LAST DAY to sign up for the Kids Heart Challenge. If you register your child and they watch the Hands-Only CPR video and the Warning Signs of a Stroke video (and complete the quiz) their name will be entered to win prizes on our final wheel spin taking place next week. If they complete Finn’s Mission by the end of the day today (look for the badge to light up on the dashboard) they will earn a spot in the Nashville Soccer Club event taking place at PPE in January.
Thank you for helping our students become HEART HEALTHY LIFESAVERS!
Register today using this link.

PERCY’S PRESENTS

Dear Percy Priest Families,
We’re excited to share that our Percy’s Presents Program is growing in just its second year! This year, in addition to supporting Percy Priest families, we’re expanding to include a neighboring MNPS school, Norman Binkley Elementary, in our holiday assistance efforts. By extending care beyond our own walls, we’ll be able to bring a little extra joy to even more children this season.
Families can sign up through our SignUpGenius link to adopt one or more families and help make their holidays brighter. Choose one, or as many, items as your family would like to donate! To protect family privacy, each participating family has been given a Christmas-themed name (like “Frosty the Snowman”). We are asking that all gifts return wrapped to school by Wednesday December 17th.
Together, we can make this season brighter and spread kindness and joy throughout our community!
If you are interested in offering support but can’t sign up to donate at this time, please contact our school counselors, diana.baxter@mnps.org and/or jessica.kelley@mnps.org.

LOST AND FOUND – LAST CALL PICK UP BY 12/17

and a poem to inspire you.

Twas’ the weeks before winter break, when all through the halls

Not a sweatshirt was labeled, not even a blouse.

The Lost and Found was hung in the cafeteria with care

In hopes that their child soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their backup jackets.

While visions of that lost, cozy ROAR Store sweatshirt danced in their heads.

And mamma with her perplexed look, and I with my Amazon tabs

Had just settled our brains to think “how on earth do we need to buy more water bottles?”

When out the cafeteria arose such a clatter.

The kids sprang from their seats as they remembered….

My mom said I better bring home that $35 Stanley I had for one day.

And the PPE staff said – Happy Winter Break to All, and to all a smaller Amazon cart!

MLK @HEAD MAGNET SCHOOL COMMUNITY MEETING

We are excited here at Head Magnet to launch our new name to Martin Luther King, Jr. Magnet Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. We are holding a community meeting where all current and prospective families are welcome to join. Tuesday, December 16th from 6-7pm at MLK Jr. Magnet School.

USED BOOK SALE

Used Book Sale – Donations needed!

As you are cleaning out over Christmas break, start gathering your used books for the annual used book sale, happening in February. We welcome books that are appropriate for Pre-K through 5th graders, and we especially need chapter books.

Donation bins will be on the PPE front steps beginning after the Winter Break.

We will need volunteers to help during the sale in February, so be on the look-out to sign up for that in the future. Feel free to reach out to Jamie Kuhlman, jamiekuhlman@gmail.com, or Avery VanPelt, avery.t.vanpelt@gmail.com, with any questions!

SAVE THE DATE FOR THE 2026 PPE AUCTION PARTY

Get out your sparkly pen and block the evening of April 11, 2026 for A Night of Wonder, an unforgettable evening benefiting PPE. Join us for a captivating evening filled with excitement (fire dancers and jugglers, perhaps?) and enchantment (mingle with a magician) all while enjoying delicious bites and beverages, dancing the night away to live music, bidding on incredible items in both our silent and live auctions, and making amazing memories.

More details to come but for those who like to plan ahead, Richland Country Club will host our A Night of Wonder event from 6pm-11pm on Saturday April 11, 2026. Tickets will go on sale in early 2026. Dress to dazzle with a touch of shimmer, deep hues, or a hint of cirque-inspired flair while we join together to strengthen programs that make our school community thrive.
