SCHOOL UPDATES

INVEST CAMPAIGN

First, we cannot thank you enough for the generosity you’ve exhibited in supporting our school already. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. Second, in a season when we know you’re being overwhelmed by asks big and small, we do have one final request. We are asking you for one last push to help fund a staffing need that has arisen. If you recall, INVEST helps to pay the salaries of some of our amazing staff, in addition to many other resources that make PPE such an inclusive, enriching school for all students. Since INVEST began in September, we’ve identified a need for an additional exceptional education support staff member. The PTO has graciously approved funding for this additional salary, and one of the ways in which they can provide this funding is through our INVEST dollars. Thank you for considering this in your support of INVEST, and as always please reach out to the PTO with any questions.

KIDS HEART CHALLENGE

The Percy Priest KIDS HEART CHALLENGE is underway, and we are so thrilled with all of the students who have decided to be LIFESAVERS! In order to ensure everyone has a chance to participate, we have extended the event to end on Friday, December  12th.
Our goals with the Kids Heart Challenge are raising awareness about heart health issues, learning HANDS-ONLY CPR, learning the WARNING SIGNS of a STROKE and raising money for the American Heart Association to give back to our community.
Percy Priest has been one to the top schools in the nation for learning hands-only CPR and the warning signs of a stroke for three years running. Let’s make this year the fourth!
Each child needs their own account and those who register and watch both videos on that account will not only receive a KHC bracelet and tiger paw light but will also be added to a WHEEL SPIN to win one of 15 amazing prize packs throughout the duration of the Kids Heart Challenge.
If we get 50% of our students registered, students will earn a HAT DAY and if we get 75% registered, students will earn a DOG DAY where they can dress up like their favorite dogs since this year’s LIFESAVER LEAGUE is a group of amazing pups.
Students do not have to raise money to participate in the Kids Heart Challenge, but as an added incentive for those who do, the Nashville Soccer Club has decided to reward those students who complete Finn’s Mission with an event to be held here at PPE in January with fun games, Tempo the Coyote, and a former NSC player! This event is only for Percy Priest. No other school has been offered this opportunity with NSC.
Register today using this link.
Thank you for helping our students be LIFESAVERS!

PERCY’S PRESENTS

Dear Percy Priest Families,
We’re excited to share that our Percy’s Presents Program is growing in just its second year! This year, in addition to supporting Percy Priest families, we’re expanding to include a neighboring MNPS school, Norman Binkley Elementary, in our holiday assistance efforts. By extending care beyond our own walls, we’ll be able to bring a little extra joy to even more children this season.
Families can sign up through our SignUpGenius link to adopt one or more families and help make their holidays brighter. Choose one, or as many, items as your family would like to donate! To protect family privacy, each participating family has been given a Christmas-themed name (like “Frosty the Snowman”). We are asking that all gifts return wrapped to school by Wednesday December 17th.
Together, we can make this season brighter and spread kindness and joy throughout our community!
If you are interested in offering support but can’t sign up to donate at this time, please contact our school counselors, diana.baxter@mnps.org and/or jessica.kelley@mnps.org.

LOST AND FOUND – LAST CALL PICK UP BY 12/17

and a poem to inspire you.

Twas’ the weeks before winter break, when all through the halls

Not a sweatshirt was labeled, not even a blouse.

The Lost and Found was hung in the cafeteria with care

In hopes that their child soon would be there.

The children were nestled all snug in their backup jackets.

While visions of that lost, cozy ROAR Store sweatshirt danced in their heads.

And mamma with her perplexed look, and I with my Amazon tabs

Had just settled our brains to think “how on earth do we need to buy more water bottles?”

When out the cafeteria arose such a clatter.

The kids sprang from their seats as they remembered….

My mom said I better bring home that $35 Stanley I had for one day.

And the PPE staff said – Happy Winter Break to All, and to all a smaller Amazon cart!
