SCHOOL UPDATES

Spotlight on Specials Section

(say that 5 times fast)

This week it’s…..SPANISH!

From Señora Trujillo: “It is such an exciting new chapter for me at PPE to be in the new building! The classroom is bright, spacious and welcoming. I love having such a large, clean classroom and updated technology. It has given the students more room to move as they explore the Spanish language through songs and celebrate the Spanish culture. I am also looking forward to having access to the additional room that I share with the classroom PE teacher. It allows us to easily collaborate and support one another in bringing the Spanish language and culture to life. I will have the opportunity to teach Spanish dances and play games in Spanish in her open space.
I am so grateful to be a part of such a supportive community!”

From Dr. Young: “As we move toward implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program, the incorporation of foreign language instruction is an important part of developing cultural awareness and language acquisition skills.  This program also helps us to develop student identities as part of a local and global community.  We are looking forward to continuing to grow our language program in years to come with this new IB focus.” – Dr. Young

INVEST CAMPAIGN

Help us keep the momentum going on Invest and don’t wait to donate! We are at 31% participation at this time. Reminder that our Invest dollars help fund crucial components of our PPE community like our Spanish teacher, math interventionist, an additional PE teacher, and a library clerk. The students get fun prizes for class participation.

If a financial donation not in the books right now? That’s ok! Remember to log your participation in Invest through the link here. This video can help you navigate how to log participation without a monetary amount. That way, your child’s classroom gets 100% participation.

Have Lunch With Your Student!

Did you know that at PPE you can sign up to go eat lunch with your kids during their lunch time?

Here is a helpful page with each grade level’s lunch time and the official sign up to eat lunch with them. Reminder: same day lunch plans are permitted, but the calendar doesn’t let you sign up same day. Please email catherine.gerald@mnps.org for same day lunch plans to let school know you’re coming so that your badge is ready to go.
