COMMUNITY ROOM COFFEE DEBRIEF

Thank you so much to all who attended our first Community Room Coffee with Dr. Young. We covered a multitude of topics, but one that stood out as being top of mind for parents was “What is Zen Den? Is my kid just taking a nap?” We learned so much about the amazing resource that Zen Den is and you can read more below. Check back after fall break for our Community Room Coffee page on the website to keep track of all these great questions and answers!

The Zen Den is our dedicated classroom space for Physical Education, thoughtfully designed to support whole-child development. In this vibrant environment, students engage in purposeful movement that builds skills, fosters connection, and inspires confidence. Here’s what parents can expect their children to experience:

• 🌀 Motor Skill Mastery: Students refine coordination, agility, and control through engaging physical activities

• 💪 Fitness Foundations: Activities improve cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and overall physical health

• 🤝 Teamwork & Collaboration: Group challenges and games teach communication, cooperation, and empathy

• 💃 Dance & Expressive Movement: Students explore rhythm, balance, and body awareness through creative dance

• 🌈 Confidence & Joy: Every child is encouraged to move with purpose, celebrate progress, and find joy in physical expression

Whether it’s a stretch, a game, or a dance routine, The Zen Den transforms physical education into a meaningful, inclusive, and enriching experience—right in the classroom.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

FIRST ANNUAL FALL TRUNK OR TREAT

Trunk or Treat: October 26th
Our inaugural PPE Trunk-or-Treat will be on October 26th from 2-4pm.

Dress up in your costume and collect candy from the decorated trunks of cars. It will be a fun, free event for the whole family!

We still need 5 more trunks! Sign up to host a trunk and help us make this a spooktacular event. (Note that we ask hosts to provide some candy but most will be supplemented by the PPE community!) We also need several volunteers! Sign up here.

If you are not hosting a trunk, please donate candy! The more candy, the better! Grab a few bags over fall break and drop them off in the Community Room beginning October 20 or send with your student the morning of October 23rd. We’ll be collecting at the car line. Thank you!
