3rd Grade News: 12/8

Hello Families!

We can’t believe it’s almost time for Winter Break! As we near closer to the end of the quarter, are tying up loose ends, and starting holiday crafts and activities next week!

We will have our benchmark testing for Science, Reading, and Math, next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, respectively. These tests are important in that they will be used to project each student’s level of proficiency for TCAP, so we ask that you encourage your child to do their very best (without adding any extra test anxiety or stress)! Thank you!

ELA– We are wrapping up the book Moonshot by Brian Floca, which describes the mission of Apollo 11. The main skill we’ll be focusing on are point of view, and we’ll also be writing an introductory paragraph to an opinion essay.

Math– We are assessing rounding to the nearest ten and hundred and beginning perimeter. Please continue to have your child practice multiplication and division facts.

Science– Continuing to learn about the ordering of the planets, and the characteristics of those planets.

We hope everyone has a safe, happy, and healthy holiday season!
