Now Accepting Nominations For PTO Board Positions

Are you interested in serving on the PTO Board?

Dear Percy Priest Community,

Planning is already underway for the 2022-2023 school year and we are taking nominations for open positions on the Board. We restructured the Board a year ago and welcomed several Board members into roles that have 2-year terms. As a result, several roles are filled but we have openings for two in particular – Vice President and Asst. Treasurer. Below is a listing of our Board positions, who is in a current term, which roles are open, and descriptions of those open roles.

We welcome nominations from our school community, including self-nominations, now through April 29. Our Nominating Committee will provide a slate to the full Board at our May 10 meeting, and we will propose a vote on new officers at our last general PTO meeting of the year that same evening.

Please submit nominations and send any questions to presidentsppe@gmail.com. Thank you!

  • Secretary & VP of Administration – Caroline Edwards
  • Treasurer – Andrea Rothe
  • **Asst. Treasurer – taking nominations

*Vice President(s):

The Vice President may be a single individual or work in tandem with a second Vice President.  In either configuration, the role of the Vice President(s) is to work closely and to support the President in all PTO matters. Additionally, the Vice President oversees all first day of school preparation, supports the New Families Committee, Room Parents and manages PTO communications.  The Vice President serves on the Finance Committee, is involved in Bylaw revisions as needed, and, in general, works with the President to support all PTO initiatives and volunteers.
This position requires some daytime flexibility (email or text communication with chairs and other executive board members during the day and meeting with committee chairs as needed).

Attendance at the monthly PTO meetings (typically scheduled for the second Tuesday evening of the month at 5pm) is required.
Some availability to be at the school may be needed on occasion.

Recommended time commitment is two years (this position will, ideally, spend one year as the Vice President and then will roll up to President for the second year).

**Assistant Treasurer:

The Assistant Treasurer works with the Treasurer and the President(s) to ensure timely reconciliation of all PTO accounts and manages the PTO budget.  The Assistant Treasurer does the monthly reconciliations of the bank accounts and is responsible for picking up checks in the PTO mailbox (located in the PPE mailroom) and making the appropriate deposits.  The Assistant Treasurer may also assist the Treasurer in the reimbursement process for volunteers, paying of bills, and preparation of financial statements for the Executive Board.

This position requires some daytime flexibility (email or text communication with school staff, Executive Board members, or other volunteers) as well as the ability to pick up checks from the school bi-monthly for deposits in a timely manner.

Attendance at the monthly PTO meetings (typically scheduled for the second Tuesday evening of the month at 5pm) is required.

Recommended time commitment is two years (this position will, ideally, spend one year as the Assistant Treasurer and then will roll up to the Treasurer role for the second year).
