Principal’s Message: April 19-23

Hello Percy Priest families!  This is Dr. Young with some important information about upcoming school events.

Bidding for our virtual spring auction is now underway!  Visit www.percypriestauction.com/auction-access and then create your BidCoz account to let the bidding begin.  Remember to check back throughout the weekend and on Monday, as bidding will close at 8PM on Monday night, April 19th.  Everyone can get on and bid so please check it out and thank you for your continued support of our school.  We also want to say a big thank you to our auction parent chairs, and all of our sponsors and volunteers for helping us with this event.

This week our 3rd and 4th grade students will begin their end of year state testing.  ELA testing will occur on Wednesday and Thursday this week.  The results of this testing will provide important information on student progress and growth and will help our team inform instruction for our students.  Families please encourage your student to put forth their best effort on these exams.

Progress reports for the 4th nine weeks will be sent home with students on Tuesday.

The district’s Promising Scholars summer program will run June 7 through July 2 and is open to all MNPS students in grades K-12 at no cost to families.  Registration for the program is now open and will remain open through May 5th.  Percy Priest will not be a hub location, but our students will enjoy all the benefits of the program at a nearby school.  Please visit summer.mnps.org for more information.

The district will be hosting a countdown to kindergarten virtual event this Thursday, April 22nd from 4-5PM.  Please use the link https://earlylearning.mnps.org/kindergarten/countdown_to_kindergarten_fair to see more information.  The fair will include details on kindergarten readiness and kindergarten enrollment.  If you have an incoming kindergarten student or have a friend or family member with an incoming kindergarten student, please encourage them to attend and to complete their kindergarten registration as soon as possible.

Families please continue to help us to stop the spread of Covid-19 by remembering the following:

· Before students leave for school, families should check them for symptoms of COVID-19. If your student or someone else at home has a temperature, cough, shortness of breath, sudden loss of taste or smell, or other COVID-19 symptoms, you must keep them at home.

·All students and staff are required to wear masks throughout their day at school.

· To protect the safety of students and staff, no visitors, including parents or guardians, will be allowed into the school at this time.

Remember to check out our PTO grade-level newsletters at https://percypriest.wpengine.com/latest-news/ for more information about upcoming school events.

Thank you and have a great weekend.
