Principal’s Message: March 29 – April 2

Hello Percy Priest families!  This is Dr. Young with some important information about upcoming school events.

Student report cards for the 3rd nine weeks will be sent home on Tuesday, March 30th.

There will be no school this Friday, April 2nd.

The district’s Promising Scholars summer program will run June 7 through July 2 and is open to all MNPS students in grades K-12 at no cost to families.  Percy Priest will not be a hub location, but our students will be able to access this program at a nearby school.

Breakfast, lunch, and transportation will be provided, and some sites will offer before- and after-care. Students in grades K-8 will attend on a full-day schedule and students in grades 9-12 will attend a half-day. Registration is now open to all families. First priority will go to students who are identified as needing academic support or as economically disadvantaged; however, we anticipate there will be space for all students who wish to attend. For more information, including registration information, visit mnps.org/summer.

We are less than a month away from our PTO virtual spring auction event on April 16th.  Visit www.percypriestauction.com for details and information about the event.  Ticket packages and student boxes, complete with a decorate-it-yourself cookie and party props, are available for purchase.  There will be great items to bid on and we hope you can join us in making this an exciting event for our school community.

Families please continue to help us to stop the spread of Covid-19 by remembering the following:

· Before students leave for school, families should check them for symptoms of COVID-19. If your student or someone else at home has a temperature, cough, shortness of breath, sudden loss of taste or smell, or other COVID-19 symptoms, you must keep them at home.

·All students and staff are required to wear masks throughout their day at school.

· To protect the safety of students and staff, no visitors, including parents or guardians, will be allowed into the school at this time.

Families please remember that our PTO grade-level newsletters are a great way to stay informed regarding grade level information.  The newsletters can be reviewed online at https://percypriest.wpengine.com/latest-news/.

Thank you and have a great weekend.
