PTO Newsletter 5/19

We are less than a week away from SUMMER.  Are you ready? Today is our Spring Sing and we are all looking forward to a morning filled with music and children singing on the steps of PPE.  The kids have been practicing for so long and we cannot wait to see the performance. PTO Meeting – this Wednesday, May 24, 5:30

Our school will enter a new era this fall when construction begins and our new building comes to life before our eyes! We have been working with MNPS on some changes to it that we think will make it even better both on the inside and on the outside.

We invite you to come hear all about these proposed changes next Wednesday, May 24 at 5:30 in the PPE Library. We will explain what the changes are and will ask for your approval to spend money the PTO has on reserve to pay for the changes. Please note that it’s possible we will have to move this meeting into the summer, but we are hoping our timeline to next week can hold and we won’t have to push back the meeting.

End of Year Teacher Luncheon – this Thursday, May 25

The PTO hosts an end of the year luncheon for our teachers on the last day of school, as one last show of appreciation for their hard work each school year. We could use your help! Please check out our sign-up genius for ways to help make it special!

Retirement Party for Mrs. Rollins – May 22

We are excited to announce a retirement gathering for the wonderful Catherine Rollins who runs the GATE program (formerly known as Encore). We will meet from 3:30 – 4:00pm on May 22nd in the small courtyard in front of Percy Priest (PPE Café if it rains). The Friends Life Treat Truck will be serving treats to families to honor Mrs. Rollins. We encourage siblings to attend! We would love for current and former students of Mrs. Rollins to create a card for her and/or say a few words. If you are unable to attend please have your child drop their card off in the main office. We hope you can join us and have some ice cream to celebrate Mrs. Rollins’ retirement!

Yellow Bus Parents: Ms. Haynes is retiring this school year!

Monday, May 22 will be Ms. Haynes Day!  Please get a picture of your kids with Ms. Haynes this week and pull out those old pics of PPE Alumni on the yellow bus. Print them out so Ms. Haynes can keep these memories of “her babies” from the last 12 years at PPE. Please have your pictures ready to give to her on Monday at pick up or drop off along with posters, cards, anything to show your appreciation.

Green Team Tip

Did you know we all have vampire loads in our homes? Yep, this is anything that’s plugged in and sucking up energy even when it’s turned off. Toaster, coffee maker, cell phone charger, unused lamps, TV, air fryer, Xbox, printers, etc. These can account for as much as 20% of your electric bill and cost a total of $19 billion per year in the U.S. To stop this energy draining cycle, unplug unused items or use a power strip and turn it off when not in use.”
