Students will use their knowledge of place value and arithmetic properties of operations to perform multi-digit problems. As students progress through the scope, they will gain mastery and fluency in adding and subtracting within 1,000.

Students will analyze how Peter Sis combines text features, illustrations, and language to create a text rich in meaning. Students will examine conclusion paragraphs in explanatory writing. In addition, students will complete a New-Read Assessment to demonstrate their mastery of reading skills, such as noting the sequence of events, recognizing cause-and-effect relationships, and using context clues to clarify the meaning of new words. Students also gain additional information about the moon, including its distance from the earth, theories about its origin, and its relationship to the earth.
