Kindergarten News: 11/10

Hi Families!
This upcoming week, the students will start a new module for our ELA curriculum. We encourage you to continue working on letters at home and blending letter sounds together. In math, the students will continue subtracting and adding numbers. Stay tuned for more updates!
Reminders:  
-A peanut free snack and water bottle should be sent each day.
-We love celebrating birthdays! Students can celebrate at school by bringing in individually wrapped, prepackaged treats.
Please have your student practice putting on, zipping and buttoning their coats on their own 🙂
Please label your student’s coats so it can be returned if lost
-Please return Turkey Tom by Monday, November 13th
-Progress reports coming home November 14th
-No school for Thanksgiving break November 22nd-24th
Navigator Day December 5th
-Gingerbread Party December 19th
Half day December 20th
No school for winter break December 21st-January 8th

 

 

ELA: ESSENTIAL QUESTION: What is true about real farm animals?
Students will…
-Read, enjoy, and analyze literary texts and visual art.
-Identify how words and pictures work together
-Understand the difference between fiction and non-fiction books
-Research farm animals
-Identify key details, characters, setting and parts of a story
-Label main figures and objects in pictures
-Write, say, and recognize the sound and letter names
-Blend letter sounds together to spell and read words

 

MATH:    
-Join and separate numbers
-Represent additon and subtraction using manipulatives
-Subtract numbers within 10
-Add numbers within 10

-Count to 100 by 10s, counting backwards and counting forwards from a given number

 

Social/Emotional Learning (SEL)  
-Understand and use strategies for managing my emotions and behavior constructively
-Demonstrate awareness and consideration of other people’s emotions, perspectives, and social cues
-Understand why we have rules and the importance of them
-Understand how organizing helps us in mnay ways
