Kindergarten News: 2/23

Hello Families!
This upcoming week, the students will compare life in America then and now. The students will identify shapes and thier characteristics. Please keep working with your student on their heart word book and return it on Thursdays. These are words the students should know by heart. Stay tuned for more updates!

Reminders:
-A peanut free snack and water bottle should be sent each day.
-We love celebrating birthdays! Students can celebrate at school by bringing in individually wrapped, prepackaged treats.
-Continue reading for the Read-a-Thon!

ELA: How has life has changed in America?
Students will…
-Read, enjoy, and analyze literary texts and visual art.
-Read Little House and identify the changes of the neighborhood over time
-Understand how change occurs over time
-Practice reading and writing words with blends and digraphs

MATH: Identify shapes and their characteristics
-Review addition and subtraction within 10
-Write teen numbers
-Represent teen numbers using manipulatives
-Understand ten and some ones

Social/Emotional Learning (SEL)
-Demonstrate awareness and consideration of other people’s emotions, perspectives, and social cues
-Understand why we have rules and the importance of them
-Understand the importance of sharing and taking turns
-Understand that they have control over their bodies, and there are acceptable and unacceptable actions for different situations
