SCHOOL UPDATES

2026 FIELD DAY IS ALMOST HERE!

Calling All Tiger Families!
We need YOUR help to make our very first Field Day & Cinco de Mayo at the new Percy Priest School campus one for the record books! Field Day 2026 is on MAY 8th and is all about big smiles, high energy, and unforgettable memories for our kiddos—and we can’t do it without our amazing Tiger community!
Good news: This year we’re offering two volunteer time slots, so you can pitch in and still enjoy walking around, cheering, and soaking up the fun with your child during their grade’s events. Anyone that is signed up to volunteer for field day is welcome to join Dr. Young and the entire school for the House Meeting/pep rally that morning as well! Pick the time that works best for you!
Volunteer Times:
K–2: 9:30–11:00
Grades 3–5: 12:00–2:00
NEW THIS YEAR! We’re kicking off Field Day with an all‑school Pep Rally + House Meeting from 8:10–9:10 AM! Parents who are signed up to volunteer for field day are welcome to join us as the whole school gets fired up for everyone’s favorite day of the year!
Rain Plan: Our make‑up date is May 15th—but let’s all cross our fingers (and toes!) for sunshine!
Thanks for being part of what makes Percy Priest such a special place. Let’s make this Field Day one our Tigers will never forget!

Pre-K and Kindergarten Popsicle Party
Please help spread the word to families with rising Pre-K or Kindergarten students!

TIGER DASH AND DUCK DERBY

Duck Derby: Duck, Duck, Buy! Sales to adopt ducks will open next Friday 5/8 and end on 5/13 so be on the lookout for the QR code and link. This will be the last opportunity to “adopt” a duck for racing Otter Creek during the Tiger Dash event on May 17th. Derby will be around 4/4:30pm where our yellow quakers will do their best to make our Tigers proud floating down the creek. First and last ducks win prizes (and some glory!)! Anyone can quack their hearts out cheering for the racers!

CALLING ALL RISING 5TH GRADERS

We want to hear your ideas for making our school or community a better place. The Nashville Community Connections Service Award encourages fourth‑grade students to notice a need in their school or neighborhood and take action to help others. The award is rooted in the story of UniCycle, which began at Percy Priest Elementary in 2014 when a parent learned that more than 3,000 Nashville students are in unstable housing each year, without a home of their own. After asking what would help most, she discovered that school uniforms were a simple gap the community could fill. With one basket at one school, UniCycle began. Last year, in its tenth year, 42,000 items were distributed across the entire district.

Inspired by that beginning at PPE, this award invites students to learn about current community needs, imagine their own idea, plan how to make it happen, and consider how it can continue to make a positive impact over time.

What You’ll Do:

  • Think of a problem you’ve noticed or something that could be better
  • Come up with an idea to help
  • Make a plan for how it could work
  • Tell us why it matters to you
  • Imagine how it could keep going or inspire others

How to Apply:

  • Fill out the short application – HERE or get a copy from your teacher

Important Dates:

Applications Due: Friday, May 15; Winner announced May 21

Project Plan Due: August 1; Check‑Ins: Summer TBD, pre-Fall Break 2026, periodically as scheduled.

We Believe in Your Ideas. You don’t have to have a perfect plan — just a thoughtful idea, a caring heart, and the willingness to try. The chosen project will receive a $500 budget and planning support from the Nashville Community Connections team.
