Weekly PTO Newsletter 4/22

We can hardly believe that there are only 5 weeks of school left until the end of the school year! There is still plenty of fun to be had, from ongoing auction parties to grade-level parties, and Field Day to the Spring Sing. Don’t miss out on any of the fun, and be on the lookout below and in future communications about bite-sized ways you can volunteer. We can’t do it without our wonderful parents and caregivers!

Proctors Needed for TN Ready

The 3rd and 4th grade teachers are in need of proctors during the TN Ready Exams. Parents will not be able to proctor in the same grade level as their children to avoid any additional distractions. Please note your child’s grade when signing up. Thank you all so much for supporting our students and teachers during this testing window. The sign-up is available here.

Parent Party for Kindergarten and First Grade Parents!

Book your babysitter and join Kindergarten and First Grade parents for a night of wine, charcuterie, and socializing. Tickets are $50 and benefit our wonderful school. If you’d like to join, please email Nahed Zehr at nartoul@gmail.com.

Cinco de Mayo Celebration!!!
May is just around the corner, and that means it is time to celebrate! Thursday, May 5, Percy Priest students will have a 5 de mayo celebration at school! We will have Música Latina playing during lunch. The café will serve tacos, cheese enchiladas, beans and corn, and all students will be served chips and salsa regardless of whether or not they get lunch from the Tiger Café. Students are allowed to wear traditional Latino outfits. Students may wear traditional Mexican clothing such as festive or brightly colored skirts or dresses, ponchos, Mexican shirts, Mexican soccer jerseys and sombreros. Students who choose to not dress up must wear standard school attire. If they are wearing standard school attire, they are encouraged to wear the colors of the Mexican flag: red, white, or green!

Unicyle – Spring Donations

Springtime means warmer weather, a shift back to shorts and skirts, and maybe some spring cleaning! Please help us to keep our school UniCycle Closet full by donating any “outgrown, not worn out” items in the white collection laundry basket at school. You can send things in with your student any day! We’ll keep what we need for our students and send the rest to UniCycle, where they’ll go to students in the Homeless Education Resource Office or to fill other closets at other MNPS schools. Thanks for being a part of our MNPS village! Donation bins are on the front porch.
