May is packed with year-end fun, including a retirement send-off for the one and only Ms. Lolita! Come join us to celebrate her 36 years of service at Percy Priest on Saturday, May 14. Details below.

All hail the queen of hospitality, the puller of 10,000-plus teeth, the living legend of Percy Priest Elementary — Ms. Lolita Kinnard! Join us to celebrate Ms. Lolita as she retires after 36 years of loving service to the students and families of PPE.

“Love You Mean It” Picnic & Parade

  • 5 p.m.-Until
  • Parade at 5:30 (Participants are invited to dress festively and be in line by 5:15!)
  • BYO blankets and chairs
  • Picnic baskets welcome
  • Food trucks onsite

Cinco de Mayo Celebration!!!  
May is just around the corner, and that means it is time to celebrate! Thursday, May 5, Percy Priest students will have a 5 de mayo celebration at school! We will have Música Latina playing during lunch. The café will serve tacos, cheese enchiladas, beans and corn, and all students will be served chips and salsa regardless of whether or not they get lunch from the Tiger Café. Students are allowed to wear traditional Latino outfits. Students may wear traditional Mexican clothing such as festive or brightly colored skirts or dresses, ponchos, Mexican shirts, Mexican soccer jerseys and sombreros. Students who choose to not dress up must wear standard school attire. If they are wearing standard school attire, they are encouraged to wear the colors of the Mexican flag: red, white, or green!


Field Day! – May 18 (rain date May 20)
Field Day is returning and volunteers will be needed to make it happen! Volunteers will need to arrive at 9:30 and all events will run from 10:00-12:00. Sign up to volunteer here!


Save the Date for the First Annual Spring Sing! – May 20 at 9:00
Mark your calendars for the first annual Spring Sing for grades 2 – 4 on Friday, May 20 at 9:00. The show will be dedicated to the legendary Mrs. Lolilta Kinnard to celebrate her retirement, as well as Ms. Moe from the Tiger Cafe. There will be singing, dancing and recorder playing. More details to follow!


Kindergarten Readiness 2022 – July 19 & 20

Summer days are fading fast, Kindergarten is here at last!
Come one and all to see & learn…everyone will take a turn!

What: Kindergarten Readiness Camp
Where: Percy Priest Kindergarten Wing
When: July 19 & 20 from 9 a.m.-noon (Tuesday and Wednesday)
Why:
-Get a “Sneak Peek” at a day in the life of a kindergartner!
-Meet new friends!
-Engage in hands-on learning experiences!
-Tour the school, playground, visit ‘kinder’ classrooms, and so much more!

Come have lunch with your student!

We are excited to announce that we have begun welcoming parent visitors to eat lunch with students! To help us with space and accommodating guests, we ask that visitors sign-up to come eat lunch using the bookings link below. Please be sure to select the correct grade level and teacher. When signing-up, we also ask that you only sign-up for one day at this time. Thank you for your help and we hope to see you for lunch soon. Sign up to come eat lunch with your student!


Grade-Level Events

 

 

4th Grade Mother-Son Outing – May 6

Who: 4th grade boys and their mothers* (*or chaperone-any parent/grandparent/chaperone is welcome to join their son). We kindly ask that you leave siblings at home.
What: Dinner, games and a movie! The movie (and snacks) will start when it is dark (around 7:30).
Where: PPE Playground
When: Friday, May 6th at 5:00.
Rain date back up is Friday, May 13th at 5:00. In case of bad weather, we will communicate through email.

RSVP: Each mother*/son pair $10 to cover the party costs. RSVP by Venmoing $10 to @Kiki-Morton (last 4 digits 4296) with son’s name. Venmo will serve as your RSVP. NO Venmo? Send $10 cash or check to Kiki Morton (Ford Morton in Mrs. Cary’s class and please send an email to kikimorton@comcast.net).

What to bring to the party: Flashlight, Blankets, sleeping bags, bean bags, folding chairs, etc. We will have drinks (juice boxes, water, soft drinks) and pizza. Bring anything else you would like to eat/drink if desired. We will be able to access the school bathrooms.
